The comic is a fictional retelling of the Battle of Thermopylae and the events leading up to it from the perspective of Leonidas of Sparta. 300 was particularly inspired by the 1962 film The 300 Spartans, a film Miller watched as a young boy. The work was adapted in 2006 to a film of the same name.

Description

Part 3: Glory – Story and artwork by Frank Miller. Coloring by Lynn Varley. Fear Xerxes marshals all the militaries of Asia against a little, brave power of 300 Spartans – and makes one final proposal for harmony. Be that as it may, harmony implies give up. With wounding lance and slicing blade, the Spartans react. Their message is a basic one: These free men won’t be slaves. There is no center ground, no trade off to be had, among acceptable and evil. If you have seen the movie you will love this comics. The God King named Xerxes has been undefeated and has conquered half the world now is has set his eyes on Sparta where the warriors are born.

But the fight against this small kingdom of Sparta will  not be easy even for Xerxes. How will King Leonidas survive the greatest army in the history of the world with just a handful of soldiers. Will he be able to save his kingdom from the God King. Who betrays the king find out in his action packed comics.
